Anand Ashram Foundation

The Anand Ashram Foundation is the Centre for Wellbeing and Self-Empowerment. It was founded on January 14, 1991 by Mr Anand Krishna who being inspired by an experience in which he was mysteriously cured from leukemia, then introduced meditation as the cornerstone of his holistic health strategy, especially for those living in big and busy cities like Jakarta.

The meditation practice at Anand Ashram begins with the cleansing of negative emotions such as anger and sadness before attaining a balance of mind, body, and soul. This helps individuals to become calm, and creative, and maximize their potential, leading to positive changes both within themselves and in the broader community. Various activities at the Ashram encompass education, culture, economics, and social initiatives, all of which stem from meditation practice. These activities include formal and non-formal education to foster national integrity, yoga and meditation centres, cultural museums, spiritual cooperatives, healthcare services, and stress recovery programs for communities affected by disasters. Additionally, they introduce Indonesia’s local wisdom at international forums.
